The distinct Tharu culture, their way of life, and their coexistence with nature, nevertheless, will enchant you. You can unwind your mind and soul by adding the breathtakingly beautiful sunsets over the rivers Rapti in Chitwan and Karnali in Bardia.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Namaste! Greetings from Nepal, the birthplace of Lord Buddha and the country of the world’s highest mountains. For anyone who wants to explore Kathmandu city and find the captivating attractions of the capital, a tour guide will always be on standby to assist you. Given that you won’t have much more time in Kathmandu on the arrival day, depending on your arrival time, you might want to engage in a little fast touring. Swayambhunath Stupa with panoramic views of the city and Kathmandu Durbar Square with ancient palaces, arts, and architecture are fantastic world heritage sites to begin because it is close to Thamel, a popular tourist destination.

Day 02: Morning flight to Bharatpur and drive to Chitwan National Park

The following day, we will travel to the Kathmandu airport to board a 20–30 minute flight to Bharatpur, Chitwan. A 40-minute journey will next take us to the resort, where we will spend the next three nights. When you arrive at the resort, you’ll be offered a welcome drink, be briefed on the amenities and activities for the following day, and have your room assigned.

After lunch, we’ll take a trip in a traditional dugout boat down the Rapti River on the western side of the national park to see animals, birds, and aquatic sunbathers like crocodiles. Discover the marsh mugger and a fish-eating gharial crocodile, two rare species of crocodiles, up close. At times, you may even see a one-horned rhinoceros and a royal Bengal tiger drinking from the river.

Experience the breathtaking sunset over the Rapti River later in the evening while enjoying your favorite beverage. You will take part in dinner and Tharu ethnic dance performance at the hotel after sundown. After a long travel and a full day of activities, feel relaxed and refreshed.

Day 03: Full-day Jeep Safari

A day of pure discovery and adventure awaits you, so get up early with the melodious chirping birds. To keep you energized during the day, there will be a prepared lunch and beverages available. This will save us time and enjoy the safari the whole day in the heart of the forest to the fullest.

Under the direction of a qualified nature guide, we will explore the jungle and look for tigers as well as other wild animals and birds. Jeep safaris typically visit Kata, Dumre Chekpost, Tamor Tal, and Lamital, which are the primary tiger habitats. You are likely to encounter several species of deer, birds, monkeys, the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, and maybe the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger during the safari.

Day 04: Jeep Safari and Walking Safari

On this day as well, we will drive on a jeep through forests in search of wildlife.  Jeep safaris are a little noisy, which occasionally threatens the wild creatures and prevents you from seeing them in their natural habitat. We will thus go on a jungle walk as a better alternative to explore the jungle and get a close-up look at the wild animals.

Step outside the jeep to begin yet another nature experience. A jungle walk led by a knowledgeable nature ranger offers a fantastic opportunity to see wildlife. In addition, you will enjoy the sounds of chirping birds, cool air caressing in, and the sound of your feet moving through the silent jungle. In the evening, stroll around the Tharu villages to learn about their culture and lifestyle.

Day 05: Drive to the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini

On the journey to Lumbini, the day begins with a 2-hour trip to CG Temple Shaswat Dham. CG Temple is a spiritual and tranquil location to escape hectic cities and enjoy a quiet setting. It is also a place to obtain some spiritual vibrations and fresh air.

Without stopping by Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, and the Lumbini Crane Sanctuary for a chance to see the endangered Sarus Crane, no tour to the Terai would be complete. Your experience of Nepal will be enhanced by visiting this location, which is rich in contemporary culture and bird species. After lunch, take a 6-hour trip to Lumbini, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage place, attracting Buddhist devotees from all around the world. Visit the magnificent World Peace Pagoda, the Maya Devi Temple, and the numerous other temples and monasteries constructed by Buddhist organizations from different countries.

Day 06: Drive to Bardia National Park

It’s an interesting drive from Lumbini to Bardia National Park. The journey covers about 262 kilometers in 6-7 hours, traveling through rivers, beautiful green forests, and the rural Terai plains. Transfer to the Babai resort for the three overnight stays after arriving in Bardia.  After a long travel, relax by watching the sunset over the Karnali River while drinking your preferred beverage.

Day 07: Full-Day Tiger Tracking

We’ll be out looking for tigers all day. Enjoy and explore nature in a comfortable and convenient way on a jeep. You will go to the renowned tiger-tracking area within the park on this day in an open-top jeep. We will start the jeep safari early in the morning when the wildlife is most active. There are a few great tigers and other wild animal habitats, including Tented Camp, Bagora Phanta, and Lamkauli.

While you wait for a glimpse of the awaited orange and black stripes, enjoy a packed lunch. We will travel to the “Balcony,” where a watchtower will allow you to see across the meadows. You might spot a distant herd or a lone tiger emerging from the tall grass to drink from the river. In the evening, we will have a delectable meal at the hotel together with a cultural Tharu program.

Day 08: Boating and Walking Safari

This day will be exciting because we will embark on a boat safari in the Karnali River and a walking safari. The Chisapani will be the starting point for the floating safari canoe journey. This expedition provides excellent possibilities to see beautiful surroundings as well as a variety of water creatures, including birds. We occasionally stop the raft in locations with a lot of wildlife for a brief nature walking safari to observe the creatures up close. Moreover, we will be walking through Bardia National Park’s prominent tiger-tracking regions, namely Hatti Machan, Tinkune, and Kingfisher. In the evening, enjoy the sunset from the bank of the Karnali River.

Day 09: Bird watching and return to Kathmandu

We’ll go for an early walk in the woods to listen to the chirping birds as they emerge near the buffer zone. Bird watching is best at the Babai River Valley and the Karnali River in Bardia. Bardia is home to around 400 distinct bird species. In the spring, migratory Siberian birds can also be seen throughout the park. In the late afternoon, we drive to the hotel for lunch. Finally, after this incredible wildlife adventure, drive to Nepalgunj and catch a flight to Kathmandu.

Day 10: Final Departure
